About
Garry Brookes began his career in the VFX and animation industry, spending over a decade crafting digital art that brought fantastical worlds and characters to life on screen. Over time, his role became increasingly technical, gradually pulling him away from the hands-on creativity that first inspired him.
In 2022, Garry returned to his roots—this time with a paintbrush in hand. Reigniting his passion for traditional media, he embraced painting as a way to reconnect with artistic expression on a more personal, tactile level.
Inspired by a deep love for animals and the natural world, Garry’s work explores playful, impressionistic interpretations of nature. His paintings dance on the edge of realism, using bold colors and loose forms to evoke emotion, movement, and a sense of wonder.
Outside the studio, Garry enjoys the challenge and excitement of live speed painting. He won the Art Battle Vancouver Regionals in 2024 and proudly represented British Columbia at the National Championships in Toronto the same year
